Oprah’s Favorite Things..What about MY Favorite Things?

Every year, the Oprah Show does an “Oprah’s Favorite Things” episode in which Oprah gives away a bunch of stuff that she thinks is awesome.  It is practically impossible to get tickets to this show, and I started thinking…”Who does Oprah think SHE is? Does she think that she is the only person that can think things are awesome and give them away?”

Therefore, I decided to reward my faithful readers with my own very special blog giveaway of My Favorite Things.  However, I am not as rich as Oprah..not even close. So I am only going to give a shout out to My Five Favorite Things.

How do you win?  On Dec. 1, 2010, if there are 50 original commenters on this blog post, I will hold a very scientific drawing for those that commented on this post!  This is a blatant attempt to force people to comment on my blog while tempting them with some pretty cool stuff because I’m just a pretty cool gal most of the time, anyway.

So without further ado:

FIVE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS THAT COULD BE YOURS!

  1. StarbucksDuring the Christmas Season, I’m partial to the Non-Fat, No-Whip Peppermint Mocha.  At any other time of the year, Non-Fat, No-Whip Mocha.  You can get anything you want because if you win this, you get a $10 Starbucks gift card.
  2. Running- Running is my therapy, my writing inspiration time AND my time to rock out.  You don’t have to be a runner or even like working out to enjoy this next one.  A $10 Itunes gift card. Don’t have an Itunes account?  Well, it’s 2010! Get with the program!
  3. Reading- When I was in high school and boys started noticing me (the perm and braces in junior high were major game killers), my darling, overprotective, super scary big brother killed any chance of me getting a Homecoming Date with this ditty, “Dude-my sister is like SMART. She reads a book a day–like a REAL book.”  Actually it was TWO books a day, JERK.  Thanks a lot. No, in hindsight..totally THANK YOU.  What does this mean for you? Go to Barnes and Noble on me and get your own inner nerd on! $25 Gift Card because books are damn expensive these days.
  4. Anthropolgie– There isn’t much in this store that I would pass up.  You should see my fall shopping list.  Delish. Speaking of delish, the Capri Candle in Navel Orange is to die for.  I have a large or small one in almost every room in my home. Perhaps you will pick one up or maybe you will use your $30 gift card toward something else like this Rumpled Moto Jacket which just made its way into one of my closets.
  5. Cooking-Specifically an evening of great friends, amazing food and even better wine is probably my favorite thing in the world.  If you win this final favorite thing, you win a chance for me to cook for you and two other people a three course dinner complete with wine pairings. Only catch on this one, if I don’t know you personally,  it will have to be a $50 restaurant gift card to your favorite restaurant instead.  I don’t watch Lifetime Movie Network, but my mom does, and her favorite movie is The Net with Sandra Bullock.  Enough said.  Either way, a pretty sweet deal!

So in closing–the only thing that you have to do is comment. Get your friends to comment, get your kids to comment, get your husband to comment.  Only requirement is that the comments be PG/NICE.   The Deadline is Dec. 1.  If we have 50 comments by then–original comments, we will draw for some really cool things.  If this goes well, I will consider monthly giveaways of ONE thing.  Again-NOT Oprah.

Finally, thanks for reading.  You are all wonderful for reading me.

    Love it!!

  2. Shannon says:

You are way cooler than Oprah! And how come your favorite things are like my favorite things too! Although I have never tried the peppermint mocha. I am scared it will taste like eating a chocolate bar after brushing your teeth! I should quit being a wimp and just go for it.

  3. Tara says:

This is quite a generous giveaway, Missy. Hope you get many responses!

  4. Jordan P says:

One of MY favorite things had to be that little conversation between you and the kids about being 20… especially your comment of no more icarly, lol!

I’d have to say that Oprah doesn’t hold a candle to your giveaway! She probably had Gayle pick everything out anyway…

  5. Carly says:

I love, love, love anthropologie! My wedding dress is from there an i still wear it! It’s not exactly a Vera Wang, but it’s sweet, simple and romantic!

  6. Shout out! I love to win stuff!

  7. Amanda Paw says:

I see a loophole that I am fond of. I do know you personally, so if I win, you are flying to Jersey to cook me dinner right? 😉 Somebody should do these fancy appliances justice. God knows I don’t.

  8. Heather Clark says:

I love this! Stop by Anthropologie on Black Friday if you are in the ‘hood, I’ll be gift wrapping for our greyhound rescue group.

  9. Keith Satterwhite says:

Let’s start with why Oprah hasn’t announced that one of her favorite things is Gayle? Come on Oprah, embrace it (or her as it seems to be).

Also, it’s a good thing B&N has e-books. I mean, who really buys actaul books these days? That is unless they want to get a signed copy. There’s not enough room on my Kindle for all the authors I’d like to have sign. Speaking of, when is Ms. Future J.K. Rowling releasing her book? I can hardly wait to get my hands on a copy. My Kindle feels the same way.

  10. Melanie Williams says:

I absolutely enjoy reading your blog. You are seriously entertaining!

    Melanie

  15. Princess Freckles says:

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I’ll have to look into getting some jeggings. I bought the best boots, and I need some really skinny jeans.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  16. Non-fat, no whip??!!!!!! What the . . . kinda takes the fun out of things doesn’t it? Pretty soon you’ll be ordering decaf, and what does that mean for the future of mankind then? Huh?!! HUH???!!!!!

Anyway, your giveaway rocks, thanks for doing it! 🙂

    xoxo!

  17. Christy says:

Peppermint Mocha has a better name around the Day School – “Christmas in a Cup”.

It’s no wonder that we’re friends, given that I like 4 out of the 5 things you do. Unfortunately, running refuses to be my friend.

  18. Melissa G says:

I love your favorites & Your blog is awesome!

  19. Kristin says:

Oh the stories I could write, if given the time… But I think CaraJCross is funnier now than she has ever been. The shedding of old clothes makes for an explosion in personality!
Plus, I’d really like to win something too. 😉
    Love ya, girl!

  38. Danielle says:

Here is a comment for you.

I got a comment on my blog from someone I don’t know but who obviously knows me. Her last name was incredibly familiar to me but I could not place it. I’m mulling her name over and over in my head and I cannot for the life of me figure it out and then I come here and remember why it is so stinking familiar to me!

Slezak. Her last name is Slezak and I had just read your post about the “Sleestack” and totally confused the two in my mind!

So I really do not know who this woman is but if I figure it out I’ll go ahead and forget to mention who I confused who for.
